June 6 2024 there is a lot of preparation in getting ready for haying. The sickle mower needs greasing and adjusting but most important is the sharpening of the blades. Here is a series of photos showing how I sharpen the blades, |

I use a grinder very carefully. Usually I use gloves but for this photo it didn't. |

The basic setup the blade si clamped to the top of the vise and supported on one end. |

The finish things off I take off the burrs with a fine stone. This I think is critical and not having any problems on our cutting of the hay may prove this point. |
