June 15 2024, Kari and the third wagon of hay,. We baled 350 bales of hay with Kari doing all of stacking of the bales.

June 14 2024. The horses did a great job of raking the hay.

June 12 2024. The horses pulling the tedder to fluff up the hay.

June 12 2024. This is the horse drawn sickle mower. As one can see the hay was very thick but luckily it went very smoothly.

June 6 2024 there is a lot of preparation in getting ready for haying. The sickle mower needs greasing and adjusting but most important is the sharpening of the blades. Here is a series of photos showing how I sharpen the blades,

I use a grinder very carefully. Usually I use gloves but for this photo it didn't.

The basic setup the blade si clamped to the top of the vise and supported on one end.

The finish things off I take off the burrs with a fine stone. This I think is critical and not having any problems on our cutting of the hay may prove this point.
